Sand-washing technology & sustainability

Sustainable development is something businesses can no longer ignore. As a result, industrial companies in the mining, construction, engineering, and manufacturing sectors are implementing new technologies that drive sustainability initiatives to protect the environment.

New environmental legislation that targets practices that are no longer sustainable has impacted the importance of performance and accuracy regarding sand-washing.

Issues related to conventional sand-washing systems include:

· High energy demands

· Significant water consumption

· A high number of dedicated staff

· High operating cost per ton

· Limited plant capacity caused by inadequate sludge handling systems

· Land requirement for sludge disposal and ponds

· High loss of fines

ALLGAIER MOGENSEN has used its experience over twenty years of manufacturing sand washing equipment to develop flexible and modular systems that allow for optimally configured solutions—creating customized machines designed to meet each plant's requeriments.

These systems are used to treat sand for use in concrete and other industrial sands, bentonite slurries, and other minerals.

Sand washing units are designed to extract sand following application-specific parameters such as grain size, fineness, modulus, and cleanliness.

Clarifiers play an essential role in the sustainability of sand-washing. Used for the treatment of sludge generated in the washing processes, our GOSAG clarifiers provide a cost-efficient fines recovery solution while helping to manage the conservation of valuable water resources.

Our clarifier and flocculant dosing units offer several ecological and economic advantages. Close control over sludge concentration: results in less water loss with the sludge.

The combination of our Controlfloc (automatic dosing) and our Autofloc (flocculant automated preparation) give the possibility of automatic flocculant dosing without permanent supervision while maximizing the percentage of fines recovery.

The sludge pump is controlled by a PLC that measures torque in the process. As a result, it generates an optimum concentration of the sludge, minimizing water losses.

This automatic process offers protection in the event of a fault or over-concentration while also reducing pressure on downstream equipment.

Our experience in numerous sectors combined with easily transportable modules means that solutions can be implemented where they are needed most, ensuring sustainable operations and greener industrial plants.
